Call for Workshops

Joint 10th Working IEEE/IFIP Conference on Software Architecture (WICSA) and the 6th European Conference on Software Architecture (ECSA) provide a unique forum for researchers and practitioners to present and discuss the latest R&D outcomes, experiences, trends, and challenges in the field of software architecture.

Workshops provide a forum to discuss topics of rising interest in software architecture and may be half-day or one-day events. Workshops will be held before the main conference.

Workshops are responsible for submission and selection of papers. Submissions must follow the IEEE CS proceedings format, as workshop proceedings will be published by IEEE. Workshop organizers may allow for different types of contributions (e.g., short and long papers), but a workshop paper should not exceed a maximum of 8 pages in IEEE CS proceedings format (http://www.computer.org/portal/site/cscps/index.jsp).

Proposal Submission

Proposals must not exceed four pages in IEEE CS proceedings format, and must be submitted electronically in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) to smalek (at) gmu.edu

Proposals should include:

  • Title
  • Names and affiliations of organizers
  • Past workshops (at WICSA, ECSA, or elsewhere) held by the organizers
  • Description of the workshop theme, in particular its relation with the field of Software Architecture
  • Goals and objectives for the workshop
  • Whether you prefer full‐day or half‐day option

Important Dates

(these dates apply to all workshops)

  • Workshop Proposal submission: March, 9th, 2012
  • Workshop Proposal Notification: March, 21st, 2012
  • Paper submission deadline: At the discretion of workshop chairs
  • Notification of acceptance: At the discretion of workshop chairs
  • Camera-ready workshop papers due: June, 22nd, 2012

Evaluation Criteria

Workshop proposals will be reviewed in a separate evaluation process from research papers. Acceptance will be based on:

  • Evaluation of the workshop’s potential to advance the state of software architecture research and/or practice
  • Timeliness and expected interest in the topic
  • Organizers’ ability to lead a successful workshop
  • Balancing and synergies with other WICSA or ECSA events

Acceptance

Upon notification of acceptance, all authors of accepted workshops will be asked to complete an IEEE Copyright form and will receive further instructions for preparing their camera-ready versions according to the WICSA/ECSA 2012 Format and Submission Guidelines.
