Transportation - WICSA 2001 - Amsterdam - August 2001

Information

Traveling to Amsterdam

KLM and many other carriers provide regular flights to Amsterdam Schiphol. There is a direct train connection from Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam Central Station. It takes 20 minutes; the fare is NLG 10,00 (first class, one way). Some hotels are within walking distance from the Central Station, for others you may take a tram or taxi. Alternatively, you can take a taxi directly from the airport. This will cost you about NLG 90,00. You may also rent a car at the airport; however, parking is very expensive, and very difficult, in Amsterdam. Moreover, public transportation in and around Amsterdam is excellent.

Traveling in Amsterdam

On the registration form, there is an option for a 5-day public transportation pass. This pass will give you free transportation on all buses, trams and metros within Amsterdam.

Conference Venue

The conference venue is the Trippenhuis, Kloveniersburgwal 29, Amsterdam. The Trippenhuis is the home of the Dutch Academy of Arts and Sciences. It is located on one of the canals in the centre of Amsterdam. Information on the Trippenhuis can be found at Royal Academy. Have a look at Map for how to get there.
