Travelling within Karlsruhe

From Karlsruhe Main Station
After you have arrived at the main station you can use taxis or the excellent local transportation to get to your hotel or the conference. Both are available outside of the exit city / Ausgang City. Local transportation is operated by the Karlsruher Verkehrs Verbund (KVV). If you want use it you will find ticket vending machines for the KVV in the station's main hall. For a single ticket, press Einzelfahrkarte (topmost left button), afterwards press 002 to select Karlsruhe. The ticket costs 2 € (opposed to taxi trips which most probably lie between 8 € and 15 €).
If you are directly heading for the conference, take
- S4 (heading for Flehingen or Heilbronn or Heilbronn EILZUG or Bretten Gölshausen) (Caution! Not line 4),
- tram 2 (heading for Wolfartsweier) (Caution! Not line S2), or
- tram 3 (heading for Heide) and
deboard at Kronenplatz/Universität (after ~ 10 minutes ride). See the campus map how to get to the registration and information points on site or have a look at orientation on campus. For the WCOP workshop, it is more convenient to take lines S4 or 2 (as above) to stop "Durlacher Tor", and then to walk.
